Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Symmetry can be a very effective tool for tackling complex optimization problems, as it allows for the same solution to be used multiple times and simplifies the process of finding a solution. It can also be employed to reduce the number of times a particular solution must be calculated and to identify symmetric solutions. Symmetry in optimization also can be a powerful tool for identifying and solving complex problems, leading to improved results. Optimization techniques are gaining popularity across many fields, which are crucial in solving various engineering problems. Starting from linear programming to heuristics and metaheuristics, optimization techniques are essential everywhere. This Special Issue will include any optimization techniques that could be useful in solving symmetrical problems related to data science, AI, machine learning, deep learning, bio-medical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical, electrical or any other computer science-related problems. High-quality papers are solicited to take up the theoretical and practical contributions of optimization methods in solving the topics mentioned above. Authors are requested to submit novel optimization techniques to solve any engineering problems. Authors can submit quality articles in the following areas (but not limited to):
- Particle swarm optimization;
- Genetic algothim;
- Grey wolf optimization;
- Discrete optimization;
- Genetic algorithms;
- Deep learning for large-scale engineering optimization problems;
- Machine learning for engineering optimization problems;
- Parameter optimization in neural networks;
- Ant colony optimization;
- Simulated annealing;
- Tabu search.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Symmetry is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
