Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Over the past three decades, swarm intelligent optimization algorithms have developed rapidly, mainly reflected in two aspects. On the one hand, many swarm intelligence optimization algorithms have been proposed, such as particle swarm optimizers, gray wolf optimizers, cuckoo algorithms, neural network algorithms, and gradient-based optimization algorithms. On the other hand, swarm intelligence optimization algorithms have been applied to many engineering fields, such as medical image segmentation, drone deployment, aircraft fault diagnosis, robot path planning, and feature classification. However, as the "No Free Lunch" theorem suggests, a single algorithm cannot find optimal solutions on all optimization algorithms. In addition, with the needs of industrial production, more and more engineering problems are transformed into complex optimization problems. Therefore, more research is required to design new swarm intelligence optimization algorithms to efficiently solve different engineering optimization problems.

In recent years, symmetry/asymmetry machine learning methods have been successfully applied in many fields, such as data mining, computer vision, natural language processing, and medical diagnosis. Some scholars have also attempted to use machine learning methods to improve the performance of swarm intelligence optimization algorithms. To further promote the deep integration of machine learning methods and swarm intelligence optimization algorithms, this Special Issue invites contributions on the development and application of swarm intelligence optimization algorithms driven by symmetry/asymmetry machine learning methods.
