Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The discourse on the environment and energy economics has intensified since the oil crises of 1973-75 and 1979-80, which reached a new peak following the Russia-Ukraine War that broke out in 2022. While the consequences from the crises are many, its deleterious impact on inflation and climate change have been the most devastating. Hence, economic agents are forced to contend with spiraling prices in the short run and global warming in the long run. While the role of national and international organizations have been important in containing both, global efforts by these organizations have increasingly become visible following the initiatives undertaken under the auspices of the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC). The corollary of these developments have seen a plethora of journals and articles presenting new findings on such a critical development issue. This special issue seeks to invite critical submissions on the

(1) viability of the carbon tax as a regulatory instrument to check GHG emissions,

(2) the creation and diffusion of new green technologies,

(3) inter-country comparisons of climate change initiatives,

(4) novel frameworks to harmonize climate change initiatives with poverty alleviation,

(5) new approaches that emphasize inclusivity by absorbing affected groups in policy solutions
