Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to our upcoming Special Issue on “Role of Heterojunction in Photovoltaic Devices” which will be published in Solar (ISSN 2673-9941 https://www.mdpi.com/journal/solar), an international peer-reviewed open-access journal by MDPI. Professor Sadia Ameen is serving as Guest Editor for this Special Issue. Heterojunction-based photovoltaic devices are a type of solar cell that relies on the interface between two different semiconducting materials to convert sunlight into electricity. The junction between these materials creates a built-in electric field that separates the photo-generated carriers and facilitates their collection at the respective electrodes. Heterojunction-based solar cells can achieve higher efficiencies compared to homojunction solar cells due to their ability to collect photo-generated carriers from a wider range of the solar spectrum. These photovoltaic devices have found applications in both traditional flat-plate solar panels and in emerging technologies such as perovskite and organic photovoltaics. Ongoing research is focused on improving the efficiency and stability of these devices, as well as reducing their manufacturing costs to make them more competitive with traditional energy sources. The purpose of this Special Issue is to solicit original contributions and publish recent advances in heterojunction-based photovoltaic devices. Based on your professional knowledge, we believe that you could make an excellent contribution to this Special Issue. Since you are an expert in the field, we sincerely invite you to submit related papers to us.

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Solar is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
