2020 The International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB) became affiliated to Smart Cities.
2021 Smart Cities was indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)—Web of Science and Scopus (Elsevier).
2022 Smart Cities received its first CiteScore (2021) of 5.5.
2023 Smart Cities adopted a bimonthly publication schedule.
Smart Cities received its first Impact Factor (2022) of 6.4.
Smart Cities received its CiteScore (2022) of 8.5.
