Remote Sensing Webinar | Advances in Disaster Science

On Thursday, 5 April 2023, MDPI and the Journal Remote Sensing organized the webinar on remote sensing, entitled “Advances in Disaster Science”. This webinar provided a high-level overview of recent advances in disaster sciences, including new geospatial methodologies and applications.

Firstly, chair Dr. Magaly Koch introduced the overview of the webinar and topics. Then, co-chair Dr. Shunichi Koshimura introduced the overview of advances in disaster science, and the speakers. Dr. Bruno Adriano presented advancements in machine learning methods for disaster response using satellite imagery. Finally, Dr. Nidhi Verma presented integrating radar backscattering and flood water depth information for improved flood mapping, making use of a case study in Houston city.

Please note that this webinar is associated with a Special Issue in Remote Sensing titled “Technological Advancements in Disaster Damage Assessment Using Earth Observation, Machine Learning, and Numerical Simulation”. The deadline is the 31st of May 2023.
