Dear Colleagues,
Natural polymer Eucommia ulmoides rubber (EUR) from Eucommia ulmoides Oliver (“Du Zhong” in Chinese) is mainly composed of trans-1,4-polyisoprene, which is the isomer of natural rubber from Hevea brasiliensis. EUR as a novel material is attracting more and more attention due to its unique and excellent duality of both rubber and plastic properties and many emerging EUR materials, such as functional composite films, shape memory biomaterials, root canal therapy filling biomaterials, anticorrosion coatings, damping and soundproof materials, autonomic self-healing elastic materials, green and sustainable tire materials, interfacial adhesion materials, etc., have been rapidly developed. Their excellent performances have led to applications in the fields of the environment, agriculture, engineering, and biomedical engineering.
Based on the above information, we would like to publish a Special Issue (SI) pertaining to recent studies on polymer EUR. This SI aims to provide a platform for researchers to disseminate recent studies on the fundamentals, science and technology of polymer EUR. High-quality original articles, review articles, case studies and short communications related to the following areas are encouraged:
- Extraction, separation, and purification of EUR;
- Physical and chemical properties and structural characterization of EUR;
- Physical, chemical, and biological modification of EUR;
- Process technology of EUR materials;
- EUR materials and their applications (films, shape memory biomaterials, root canal therapy filling, coating, damping and soundproof materials, self-healing elastic materials, tire, interfacial adhesion materials, etc.);
- Other topics related to EUR.
