Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue wishes to improve our knowledge of bioactive nanomaterials. Numerous problems arise during the treatment of various diseases; therefore, the application of bioactive materials requires further development. Specific knowledge of the interaction of bioactive nanomaterials and cells, tissues in vivo, proteins, bacteria, viruses and other important biomolecules is still missing. Application of certain nanoparticles or bioactive surfaces can trigger whole sequences of human biomolecules with unpredictable outcomes for patients. This issue will be focused on a multidisciplinary approach to the topic of bioactive materials.
In this Special Issue, we aim to discuss the physical, chemical and biomedical aspects of bioactive nanoparticles and surfaces acting mainly against tumors, microbes, viruses as well as implants. The main topics include the following:
- The development of antitumor bioactive nanoparticles;
- The development of antimicrobial bioactive nanoparticles;
- The development of antiviral bioactive nanoparticles;
- The mechanisms of interactions between bioactive surfaces and implants/catheters.
This Special Issue will focus on research and review papers discussing the most recent progress in subfields of medicine and natural and social sciences. I hope that it will be a valuable resource for a broad audience in these fields.
