Today, 43.8 million cancer patients survive worldwide, while 18.1 million are diagnosed with cancer every year. A 60% increase in these rates is estimated by the year 2040.
Cancer therapies are related to complications, while the oral cavity is a particular target of cancer therapies. There is an urgent need for the contribution of appropriately educated dentists to the multidisciplinary management of patients with cancer (FDI—International Dental Federation 2020–2021).
We are happy to invite you to our webinars for the sensitization and education of dentists in three main axons–phases of cancer trajectory: (a) the assessment of the oral cavity and preparation of the patient prior to the initiation of cancer therapy; (b) follow-up of oral health and collaboration with the patient’s oncologist during cancer therapy; and (c) oral care through the prevention and early diagnosis of chronic oral complications after the completion of cancer therapy.
In Webinar 1, we will present the oral complications observed in patients with head, neck, and oral cancer, who receive radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy, and the contribution of the dentist. It is with great pleasure and honor to host Dr. Vinod Patel, Lead in Dental Services in Cancer at Guy’s Dental Hospital and MSc in Oncology at the Institute of Cancer Research, UK.
In Webinar 2, we will present osteonecrosis of the jaw in medication. It is our great pleasure and honor to host Professor Giuseppina Campisi, Dept. of Surgical, Oncological and Oral Sciences "Di.Chr.On.S", University of Palermo, Professor, University of Palermo, Italy.
In Webinar 3, we will present the oral complications related to targeted therapies, immunotherapy, and bone marrow transplantation.
