Biomolecules and Nanostructures 8

The 8th edition of the interdisciplinary conference "Biomolecules and Nanostructures" will be held in Hotel Forest in Krakow, starting in the evening of 14th June 2023 and ending in the morning of 18th June (Wednesday to Sunday). The conference is dedicated to the memory of Professor Marek Cieplak. The conference is organized by the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.

The key topics of the conference cover current subjects at the crossroads of molecular biology, physics, and chemistry, including biomolecules, nanostructures, nanomachines, and biosensors. The specific topics of "Biomolecules and Nanostructures 8" will include:

  • Single-molecule manipulation;
  • Liquid–liquid phase separation;
  • Bio-nano interfaces;
  • Proteins in viral capsids;
  • All-atom and coarse-grained molecular models;
  • Intrinsically disordered proteins;
  • Assembly of protein complexes;
  • Interactions between nucleic acids and proteins;
  • Other issues related to molecular biophysics and biochemistry, both experimental and theoretical.

Many distinguished scientists have agreed to give invited talks, as listed at: http://www.nanofun.edu.pl/bionano8/#speakers.

"Biomolecules and Nanostructures 8" in Krakow is the eighth conference in a series with an almost 20-year-long tradition. The previous editions took place in Bedlewo near Poznan in Greater Poland, Pultusk near Warsaw in Mazovia, Jaroszowice near Krakow in Lesser Poland, Podlesice in Polish Jura, and in the Kashubian village of Pomlewo. An overview of the scope and plenary speakers of the previous conferences (2004, 2006, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019) is available at http://www.nanofun.edu.pl/bionano7/previous-editions-bio-nano.html.

The conference will take place in the beautiful historic city of Krakow in Hotel Forest, located near the Przegorzaly Castle and Tower on the Castle Hill. The Przegorzały Castle, known as the "Bastion", was built by the Polish art historian Adolf Szyszko-Bohusz as his own residence in the 1920s. Przegorzaly is a town in the Zwierzyniec district of Krakow, located 6.5 km west of the city center at the edge of the Wolski Woods, east of Bielany and west of the Kościuszko Mound, overlooking the Vistula river. It is home to several nature reserves and has retained a semi-rural character.
