Dear Colleagues.
In the past two decades, the rapid spread of antibiotic resistance and lack of effective drugs for treating life-threatening infections caused by multi-drug resistant bacteria in animal and human medicine have forced us to find new antibacterial strategies. Natural products, in particular from plant sources, have served as powerful therapeutics against bacterial infection. It is an important source for the discovery of novel antibacterial drugs. To date, a lot of natural products have been reported to possess potential antibacterial effects or be effective antibacterial adjuvants. The development and discovery of new antibacterial adjuvants from natural product bioactive compounds are, thus, very important and still in demand. Screening techniques have proven highly useful for the discovery of active components in complex mixtures, which rely on bacterial culture, molecular docking, model building, chromatographic methods, biological targets, and so on, in the process of identifying the active compounds. Meanwhile, the precise molecular mechanisms of antibacterial adjuvants are required for pharmacological and toxicological research. It could also promote the discovery for the new target of bacteria.
This Special Issue aims to collect all new research aspects of antibacterial adjuvants, such as (1) pharmacology and toxicology studies of all new antibacterial adjuvants from plants; (2) standardized protocols for screening, characterization, and response, and new antibacterial adjuvants from plants; and (3) new molecular mechanisms and potential antibacterial targets. The relative research studies or review papers are welcome.
