Green Chemistry
A section of Molecules (ISSN 1420-3049).
Section Information
The Green Chemistry Section of the journal Molecules publishes original research and review articles in this dynamically developing discipline in fundamental and applied research even in academia and industry in all domains such as fine chemicals, pharma, cosmetic, nutraceutical, food ingredients, perfumery, materials, paint, etc. Green Chemistry meets the challenges of the 21st century protecting both the environment and consumers, while enhancing competitiveness of industries by becoming more ecologic, economic, and innovative, and thereby sustainable.
The Green Chemistry Section invites contributions that report on (but are not exclusive to):
- Innovative new syntheses and procedures that reduce or eliminate the use of petroleum solvents and the generation of hazardous materials. The development of environmentally synthetic methods and processes to design green and safer chemicals and materials;
- Chemistry based on natural products (plants, microalgae, microbes, yeast, etc.) as a source of reagents, ingredients, products, solvents, and bio- energy in different applications including the preparation of starting materials, colors and dyes, antioxidants, and aromas, until packaging occurs;
- Green engineering including chemical and food processing with concepts, strategies and tools, intensification, and miniaturization;
- Biorefinery as tool to convert biomass or wastes into valuable resources;
- Green analytical chemistry including sample preparation, protocols, and analysis;
- Life cycle assessment;
- Education in Green Chemistry.
