Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Perovskite has drawn a lot of interest as a photoactive layer in the solar industry because of its superior material performance and straightforward synthesis process. With rapid progress in power conversion efficiency (PCE), which can now reach 25%, perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have become a game changer in the photovoltaic performance race. Intense research on structure design, material chemistry, process engineering, and device physics have contributed to the revolutionary advancement of PSCs, which have evolved into strong candidates as next-generation solar energy harvesters. The high efficiency in combination with the low cost of materials and processes are the selling points of these PSCs over commercial silicon or other organic and inorganic solar cells.

This Special Issue will provide a concise reference on advances in perovskite solar cells. The Special Issue will summarize the fundamentals behind the properties of perovskite materials, as well as the important approaches to fabricating high-efficiency perovskite solar cells. Strategies and challenges regarding compositional engineering of the hybrid perovskite structure will also be discussed, including potentials for developing lead-free perovskite materials.
