Special Issue "Preparation and Processing Technology of Advanced Magnesium Alloys"

As one of the lightest engineering metallic materials, magnesium alloys have become a significant area of research in the field of metal materials. In recent years, more and more reseachers have engaged in reseach about magnesium alloys and their processing technologies.
This Special Issue, titled Preparation and Processing Technology of Advanced Magnesium Alloys, will focus on the newly developments of magnesium alloys. Specifically, it will cover new Mg alloys, the technical of casting, deformation technologies, microstructure characterization, and mechanical and functional properties.

Title: Microstructure and Tensile Behavior of Squeeze Cast Wrought Mg Alloy AZ31

Abstract: Wrought magnesium alloy AZ31 was squeeze cast (SC) in comparison with the permanent steel mold cast (PSMC) counterpart. The microstructures of the SC and PMSC AZ31 alloys were analyzed by SEM and EDX. There were differences in microstructure features between the SC and PMSC AZ31 alloys. The tensile properties and strain hardening rate of the SC alloy were higher than those of the PSMC sample, which should be attributed to the different microstructure characteristics.
