Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Malignant diseases still represent a serious health problem affecting people worldwide, being responsible for a significant number of deaths annually. However, due to the improvements in the field of screening and early detection, surgical techniques, perioperative management, and oncological treatment, significant progress has been reported in terms of disease-free survival and even overall survival in cancer patients. Meanwhile, the development of the concept of personalized medicine as well as the application of multidisciplinary approaches in such cases have led to the improvement of the long-term outcomes of these patients, even in cases presenting locally advanced or even relapsed diseases.

In this Special Issue, we would like to point out the most recent improvements in the field of surgical oncology for both locally advanced and relapsed abdomino-pelvic malignancies, to discuss the current controversies, and to highlight the benefits of a personalized, multidisciplinary approach in digestive and gynecological cancers.
