Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Colorectal carcinomas are now one of the most frequently diagnosed forms of cancer and rank fourth in cancer-related deaths worldwide. A colorectal cancer diagnosis has evolved greatly in the past few decades, with novel biomarkers, genetic sequencing, and virtual endoscopy procedures all being part of everyday medical practice in colorectal cancer diagnosis. Despite advances in the field of Oncology and systematic treatment, surgery remains the cornerstone of colorectal cancer treatment with curative intent. Novel surgical techniques have evolved over the years, to include robotic surgery, endoscopic excisions, and intraoperative visualization techniques for tumor localization, lymph node mapping, and perfusion assessment.

The scope of this special issue is to gather and present novel data regarding the newest operative techniques in colorectal cancer management, including but not limited to the use of targeted tumor tracking, intraoperative fluorescence, utilization of biomarkers in predicting immediate clinical outcomes, research on postoperative complications of colorectal cancer patients. The focus of the Special Issue is on targeted surgical treatments and novel minimally invasive techniques in treating colorectal cancer. We welcome Original Articles on basic, pre-clinical, clinical, and translational research, as well as Systematic Reviews adhering to the above-described theme on surgical management of colorectal cancer.
