Special Issue "Mechanical Properties and Corrosion Behavior of Advanced Materials"
Deadline for manuscript submissions: 10 December 2023 | Viewed by 9065
Technological progress is generally delayed, in part, due to the limitations of conventional materials. Adequate corrosion protection and improved mechanical properties are two key aspects of materials science and engineering. Corrosion protection is one of the most important aspects in relation to the functionality of metallic parts, in terms of economical value. Corrosion resistance, requested by several industries, is critically important for not only the durability and longevity of a part but also for maintaining system and component functioning as originally designed. Moreover, because the materials from every mechanical system are subjected to certain loads during operation, it is important to understand how these materials behave, and to isolate methods of improvement. Hence, improving the mechanical and corrosion resistance properties of materials by applying proper heat treatments and surface modifications can lead to significant economical benefits as well as the preservation of resources.
In this Special Issue, modern trends concerning aspects related to the design of novel and advanced materials, or to new or updated processing technologies which can improve either the corrosion protection or the mechanical properties of conventional materials, are highlighted and discussed. The scope of this issue is broad, giving authors the possibility to present developments and research in all aspects of corrosion protection and the mechanical properties of advanced materials, in bulk or coating form.
It is my pleasure to invite you to submit a manuscript to this Special Issue. Full papers, communications, and reviews are all welcome.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
