Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Chronic liver disease is a global concern nowadays. Specially, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) affects about one-fourth of the world’s population. NAFLD always occurs alongside metabolic dysfunction. Currently, there is no approved medicine for NAFLD. Marine natural products such as polysaccharide, polyunsaturated fatty acids and peptides have been shown to attenuate metabolic dysfunction via multiple mechanisms and thus are beneficial for liver health. Additionally, marine compounds with novel structures are promising for the treatment of chronic liver disease.

This Special Issue invites articles and reviews highlighting marine natural products’ impact on liver health. Reports of known or novel marine compounds with potential for treating chronic liver disease and studies exploring the mechanisms underlying their effects are welcome, especially those focusing the molecular targets of chronic liver disease.
