Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The first two decades of the 21st century have been marked by a huge revolution in the field of lung surgery.  The mainstay of this process has been the advent of minimally invasive approaches. Nowadays, video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) and robot-assisted thoracic surgery are becoming the gold standard in a vast majority of thoracic surgery centers worldwide. Furthermore, the basic VATS technique has been subjected to refinements and improvements that allowed for a progressive translation from the standard three-port approach to the single-access approach. Ongoing technological achievements such as tridimensional computed tomography and bronchoscopy navigation are also expected to furtherly improve the overall quality of minimally invasive lung resections. The scope of this Special Issue is to take stock of the situation regarding indications, techniques, results, and unsolved problems of minimally invasive lung resections. We welcome original studies and reviews regarding all these points, with a view to future developments and innovations.
