Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Surgical treatment is the best treatment option for many pulmonary diseases. The aim of lung resection surgery is curative resection while preserving the maximum amount of functional lung tissue. Recent advancements have demonstrated how surgical practice is rapidly changing and evolving; future challenges include the novelties of preoperative immunotherapy, adjuvant treatments, limited resections and technological improvements.  The functional loss resulting from pulmonary resection depends on the extent of resection, the relative functional status of the removed in relation to the remaining tissue, and the degree of preoperative damage to lung function. The burden of lung disease is evident, driving researchers to improve patient outcomes and avoid surgery where possible.

This Special Issue aims to collect research on indications for lung resection, surgical strategy, and outcomes associated with local treatment in a multidisciplinary context, discussing the advances in the treatment of lung resection and identifying directions for current and future clinical practice. Original articles, reviews, and communications are welcome. We look forward to receiving your contributions.
