Dear Colleagues,
In previous decades, a significant portion of research concerned “dying”. However, public health is currently encouraging a greater focus on prevention than on treatment, since it is necessary to act at the root of the problem before it appears. It is essential to increase research on the scientific, social, and economic basis of prevention.
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic took the world by surprise, and the scientific community turned to the search for answers to better understand the impact and the consequences of the virus. In turn, a series of studies were conducted globally, most of which focused on epidemiological and molecular biology aspects, aiming to learn about the characteristics of the virus as quickly as possible.
As a result of the scientific research published around COVID-19, knowledge has increased among the scientific community, providing greater awareness of the importance of continuing to study epidemic infectious diseases. The more knowledge there is, the more tools society will have to prevent and control the massive spread of disease. Thus, it is important to focus on prevention, which is the best way to ensure better living conditions in the future.
This Special Issue seeks articles that address these topics, especially those that combine a high academic level with a practical approach, providing optimal tools to prevent and control epidemic infectious diseases.
