Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Palliative care is an interdisciplinary medical caregiving approach aimed at improving and optimizing quality of life for patients and their families. It aims to mitigate suffering among people with serious and terminal illnesses. Symptoms may include pain, depression, shortness of breath, fatigue, constipation, nausea, loss of appetite, sleeping difficulties, and anxiety. The interdisciplinary team help patients gain the strength to carry on with daily life. Therefore, we invite authors to present scientific papers on the implementation of different options of care in palliative medicine for patients suffering terminal illnesses. Contributions may also cover the fields of rehabilitation medicine, nutrition, psycho-oncological or psycho-social fields, as well as occupational and integrative care. Specifically, we seek submissions on the provision and delivery of patient-centered care in palliative medicine.

This Special Issue aims to present the diversity and knowledge gaps in the research on the effectiveness of palliative care on quality of life among patients suffering different types of cancer. We particularly welcome contributions from writers that specialize in childhood cancer.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
