Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Air pollution remains a significant cause of death globally, at about 9 million persons per year. The Lancet commission on pollution and health recently reported that policy changes driven by dedicated scientists, non-profits, and government leaders resulted in some local shifts in which air pollutants are associated with high mortality, but the overall toll remains the same. Although the myriad health effects of air pollution are well known, it is seen by many as an intractable or even necessary problem associated with industrialization. We are seeking studies demonstrating the latest efforts in the translation of air pollution health research into practical solutions, whether at the level of technological innovation or policy, for inclusion in a Special Issue of IJERPH. Studies demonstrating the opportunities presented by interdisciplinary research and advocacy will be prioritized. Studies demonstrating positive health outcomes following the reduction of criteria air pollutants will also receive strong consideration. We invite researchers to seek out interdisciplinary collaborations in pursuit of publications suitable for the Special Issue.
