Kidney disease is a highly prevalent condition; approximately one fifth of the world’s population will experience health limitations due to the disease. Many people are not aware that they have kidney issues until the disease has progressed though the later stages and possibly arrived at end-stage renal disease where dialysis is mandatory for survival. Besides congenital causes, two major risk factors for kidney disease include hypertension and diabetes, which often go undiagnosed, especially in lower socioeconomic subpopulations and in rural areas where access to health care is poor.
In the scope of this Special Issue of the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (IJERPH), we welcome original research utilizing quantitative or qualitative approaches, epidemiological studies, meta-analyses and reviews. All manuscript formats accepted by IJERPH will be considered. Potential topic areas could include distance-based education interventions, community-based awareness programs, social marketing campaigns, provider-patient interventions, etc.
