Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Hypertension is common in older adults and is one of the main determinants of adverse outcomes; it is one of the most frequent comorbidities in elders, increasing the risk of death, hospitalizations, and functional decline, eventually leading to frailty. Indeed, hypertension drives vascular damage with endothelial dysfunction, contributing to the onset of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events. In this scenario, it is very important to manage hypertension to avoid adverse events and improve the quality of life of the patients. Hence, a careful geriatric assessment is a fundamental moment in the management of this class of patients to evaluate a physical frailty status and/or a cognitive impairment.

This Special Issue focuses on the management of hypertension in older adults, with or without frailty, underlying the importance of endothelium as a fundamental contributor to healthy/pathological aging.
