Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Advancements in molecular biology and genomics combined with genetic breeding have enhanced understanding of genetic mechanism and breeding approaches of important economic fish. For example, analyze the genetic basis of the main economic traits in economic fish, focusing on the molecular mechanisms of sex determination and differentiation, gametogenesis and maturation, to elucidate the mechanism of muscle cell proliferation and protein/fat balance, to reveal the signaling pathway of innate immune system and the interaction mechanism between important pathogens and host immune system, to reveal the signal pathway and expression regulation mechanism of tolerance to hypoxia or hypothermia, so as to provide theoretical basis and gene resources for breeding new economic fish varieties with high yield, disease or stress resistance.

The objective of the present Special Issue is to highlight the most recent genetic breeding advances of economic fish with an emphasis on molecular mechanism of genetics breeding. We also welcome the papers about the molecular technology for genetic sex identification and new technology for sex control, whole-genome selection breeding, molecular module design breeding and genome editing breeding suitable for economic fish. All this progress will contribute to a better understanding, exploitation and management of genetic and molecular mechanism in aquaculture and breeding programs through molecular and genomic technology.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Genes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
