Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the last few years, digital computing has radically transformed the lives of human beings. In today's competitive and highly dynamic environment, analyzing data to understand how systems are performing and predict outcomes and trends has become critical. The traditional approach to reporting is no longer adequate. Instead, users now demand easy-to-use, intelligent platforms and applications capable of analyzing real-time data to provide insight and actionable information at the right time.

Challenges lie in how to translate the value of computing and networks into the real [physical] world. The integration of Information Technology with real time intelligent infrastructure (e.g., sensors, machines, etc.) is required. Increasing the efficiency of the immatured state of current real-world systems is the IT community’s agenda. The intersection of cloud computing, big data, and intelligent device connectivity creates new values across the business and public systems spectrum.

This convergence is informing significant new modes of service delivery and customer value creation. However, to leverage the full potential of this opportunity, developers and users will need new tools, technologies, and knowledgeable providers to foster adoption.

Creating real intelligence is not confined to Artificial or Computational Intelligence all alone. It requires the convergence of several sectors such as cloud, data intelltigence, big data, web stream, etc. For example, new ways of using Semantic Web technologies for integrating and making sense of scientific data have been investigated using real experiments and simulations and to further analyse data intensively.

The proposed Special Issue is not limited to the domains of AI, but it includes a wider array of other themes as well.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Future Internet is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
