The Portuguese Society of Rheology (Sociedade Portuguesa de Reologia, SPR) is a non-profit, technical scientific and cultural association that was founded in 1997. SPR aims to bring together individuals both from academia and industry, as well as organizations with an interest in the science of flow and deformation of materials, in order to promote and propagate rheology within the national scientific community, improve the dissemination and application of knowledge in the field, and facilitate and develop international collaborations with partners that share similar interests.

Together with the Spanish Group of Rheology, SPR organizes the Iberian Meeting on Rheology (Ibereo) that is held biennially, alternating between Portugal and Spain. During the meeting, the Iberian Award for the Most Distinguished PhD Thesis is presented.

SPR organizes short courses, held in Portugal, on different topics of rheology, with particular focus on the practical aspects of rheometry. These courses are especially aimed at young researchers and industry professionals.

SPR is an associate member of the European Society of Rheology and the International Committee of Rheology.
