Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The buildings sector is responsible for a large share of global energy consumption and environmental impact. Buildings are important actors in global energy efficiency. Over the last few decades, governments, institutions, industries and the general public have become aware of the weight of buildings with respect to energy efficiency and environmental impact. The energy efficiency in buildings has attracted significant research focus, and buildings have become an important part of energy strategies and policies. On the other hand, the market for digitalization in the energy sector is growing fast and is expected to reach $64BN by 2025. The residential buildings energy management technologies will see a significant change in digital revenues, rising from $1 billion in 2017 to $11 billion in 2025. The same trend is observed in energy management technologies for commercial buildings. The field of building energy informatics is a research field which plays a key role in digitalization of building energy systems. The focus of building energy informatics is on the use of information and communication technology to address buildings energy challenges. This Special Issue aims to serve as a platform to report recent research results and findings within building energy informatics and to report and describe the open problems and challenges of the field. We would therefore welcome your submissions which report your recent results within different areas of building energy informatics. In addition, submissions which review state-of-art developments and/or describe open problems and challenges are encouraged.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
