Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Precise point positioning (PPP) using global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs) has been demonstrated to be a powerful technique to provide high-precision positioning information worldwide. Over the past several decades, with the modernization of GPS and GLONASS as well as the continuous improvement of BDS, Galileo and QZSS, satellite navigation and positioning has entered an era of multi-system co-existence, and the new generation of space vehicles can all broadcast navigation signals in three or more frequencies. The abundant observations provide exciting opportunities for the improvement of positioning accuracy, reliability and other performance of PPP, and hence assured positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services. In addition to the modernization of GNSS, low Earth orbit (LEO) constellations, as important PNT systems, can greatly shorten the convergence and initialization time of GNSS-only PPP by virtue of its rapid geometry change, further making global instantaneous centimeter-level PPP possible.

This Special Issue of Electronics aims to provide a platform for researchers and practitioners to share their innovative algorithms and applications of PPP based on multi-frequency and multi-constellation GNSS. Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Optimization and resilient adjustment of PPP observation and stochastic model.
  • Multi-frequency PPP bias estimation, such as differential code bias (DCB), observation-specific bias (OSB), fractional cycle bias (FCB), etc.
  • Innovative atmospheric modelling methods for PPP-RTK.
  • LEO constellation enhanced GNSS PPP.
  • Theory and modeling for PPP integrity monitoring.
  • Recent achievements of PPP-themed international collaborations and campaigns.
  • Research on applications of PPP in various fields, such as time and frequency transfer, satellite orbit determination, ionospheric modelling, monitoring of man-made and natural structures, etc.
