Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The 2022 GARD Forum: Bridging Technologies and Market Needs, to be held on 25–26 February 2022, is a gathering of scientists and practitioners from around the globe to share the state of the art in the development of rapid diagnostics in support of sustainable health in all forms—human, animal, and ecosystem health. In addition, the forum serves as a marketplace where customers’ needs are addressed with innovative technologies, especially to help those in low-resource populations. The event covers 30 hours of continuous programming in various time zones, with different continents holding technical sessions while allowing everyone across borders to join freely.

There are five main activities during the forum:

  1. Innovation challenge—grassroots and localized identification of problems and solutions through elevator pitches;
  2. Technical regional sessions—pre-recorded presentations, live talks, and live panel discussions on the conference’s themes;
  3. Poster presentations—incorporating 3-minute flash talks;
  4. Short courses—taught by professors from various universities. The courses are: (1) Nanotechnology, (2) Biosensors, (3) R programming, and (4) Entrepreneurship for Scientists;
  5. Networking.
