A Feature Paper should be a substantial original Article that involves several techniques or approaches, provides an outlook for future research directions and describes possible research applications.
Feature papers are submitted upon individual invitation or recommendation by the scientific editors and must receive positive feedback from the reviewers.
Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the scientific editors of MDPI journals from around the world. Editors select a small number of articles recently published in the journal that they believe will be particularly interesting to readers, or important in the respective research area. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of the most exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal.

We are pleased to announce that Current Oncology will be granting the Travel Award to two junior scientists. The applications will be assessed by an Evaluation Committee consisting of senior scholars from the Current Oncology Editorial Board.
This award provides financial support for the winners to attend an international conference in the field of clinical oncology to be held in 2024, in order to hold a presentation, present a poster, or both.
Candidate Requirements:
– Postdoctoral fellows or PhD students;
– Plans to attend an international conference in 2024 (oral presentation or poster).
Required Application Documents:
– Information of the conference the applicant is planning to attend and the abstract that will be submitted;
– Curriculum Vitae and list of publications;
– Justification letter describing the focus of the research (max. 800 words).
– Letter of recommendation from the supervisor, research director, or department head, which also confirms the applicant’s status as a postdoctoral fellow/PhD student.
The winners (two awardees) will each be awarded CHF 500 and a certificate.
Please submit your applications for the Current Oncology 2024 Travel Award online by 31 January 2024. Prizes will be awarded in the middle of April 2024 and announced on the Current Oncology website.

We are pleased to announce that Current Oncology is now inviting nominations for the Current Oncology 2023 Young Investigator Award. This prize will be given to one young investigator in recognition of their excellence in the field of clinical oncology. All nominations will be assessed by an Evaluation Committee consisting of senior scholars from the Current Oncology Editorial Board.
The Prize
– CHF 2000;
– Option to publish one paper free of charge in Current Oncology after peer review before the end of March 2025;
– An electronic certificate.
Eligibility and Requirements
– Must have completed oncology training and/or received their PhD no more than 10 years prior to 31 March 2024;
– Must have produced ground-breaking research and made a significant contribution to the advancement of clinical oncology;
– Candidates must be nominated by senior scientists/researchers.
List of Documents for Nomination
– Detailed Curriculum Vitae, including an updated publication list and a list of the researcher’s own research grants;
– Scanned copy of doctorate certificate;
– Signed nomination letters from two established senior scientists (at least one must be at professor or clinical professor rank).

Dr. Bishal Gyawali is an Associate Professor in the Department of Oncology at Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada. Dr. Bishal Gyawali’s research interests are cancer policy, global oncology, regulatory policy, surrogate endpoints, and quality of life. Dr. Bishal Gyawali received his PhD in 2017 and has an outstanding publication record, comprising 157 peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals. Dr. Bishal Gyawali’s Scopus scientific citations number is 15815 and his Hirsch index is 26. Furthermore, he is a member of the WHO Drug Policy Committee, ASCO Health Equity and Outcomes Committee, ESMO Global Policy Committee, and ESMO-Magnitude of Clinical Benefit Scale Working Group.
Dr. Bishal Gyawali is clearly a rising star in the field of clinical oncology. Please join us in congratulating the awardee for his outstanding achievements.

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Current Oncology 2021 Young Investigator Award is Dr. Matteo Lambertini.
Dr. Lambertini is an assistant professor and consultant for medical oncology at the IRCCS Policlinico San Martino Hospital—the University of Genova in Genova, Italy. He is mainly focused on the care of breast cancer patients and is deeply involved in breast cancer research. Dr. Lambertini received his doctoral degree in medical science in 2018 and has an outstanding publication record, comprising 197 peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals. Dr. Lambertini’s Scopus scientific citations number is 3423, and his Hirsch index is 31. He is also a member of the guideline group for fertility preservation in cancer patients for the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embriology (ESHRE), and the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM).
He is clearly a rising star in the field of clinical breast oncology. Please join us in congratulating the awardee, Dr. Matteo Lambertini, for his outstanding achievements.
