Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
As pediatric obesity remains a public health crisis, adolescent bariatric surgery has become increasingly utilized to help youths lead healthy lives. While research in adolescent bariatric surgery is increasing, many gaps still exist that limit clinicians and researchers. Specifically, limited research exists to guide interdisciplinary teams on best approaches to care, understand short- and long-term outcomes, provide guidance on the utilization of multimodal approaches to care and to understand disparities in care. As such, the goal of this Special Issue is to highlight best care practices for all youth in need of adolescent bariatric surgery. Through original research, quality improvement projects, commentaries and systematic reviews, this Special Issue will guide needed advances in the field.
