Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

To effectively prevent the occurrence of engineering disasters, more attention should be paid to disaster mechanisms and anti-seismic measures in various types of engineering structures. In modern building structural design, seismic performance is an important manifestation of building structure functions, especially in earthquake prone areas.

The study of disaster mechanisms and dynamic response in engineering disasters, as well as anti-seismic measures for various types of engineering buildings, is one of the most important directions of development, with the following advantages: (1) it is conducive to reducing engineering building costs; (2) it helps to improve the risk avoidance rate of various engineering structure in different disasters; and (3) this is conducive to safety construction in earthquake areas.

Adequate research on disaster mechanisms, dynamic response analysis methods, and anti-seismic measures in engineering disasters is the design cornerstone of various engineering structures. Dynamic numerical simulation and model test methods play a crucial role in seismic research field. This Special Issue focuses on collecting high-quality articles on the advanced original research and technology of engineering disaster analysis and earthquake-resistant buildings design, emphasizing the latest advances in engineering disaster analysis and seismic design through comprehensive theoretical, experimental, and numerical methods.

The target contributors include academics and scientists, civil engineers, construction and project managers, and graduate students in related fields. The Guest Editors cordially welcome high-quality papers focusing on, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • Seismic design of buildings;
  • Slope hazard analysis;
  • Tunnel disaster analysis;
  • Foundation disaster analysis;
  • Intelligence of disaster analysis systems;
  • Seismic isolation and shock absorption;
  • Multi-field coupling of rock and soil mechanics and related constitutive models;
  • New methods for numerical simulation of engineering disasters;
  • New methods for model testing of engineering disasters.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Buildings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
