Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Sex differences in ischemic stroke are well recognized. Young women have lower incidence and prevalence of stroke compared to men until an advanced age, when this epidemiology reverses. At advanced age, women have a higher disability from ischemic stroke compared to men. In recent years, several advancements have been made in determining the etiology, pathogenesis, and stroke risk factors that contribute to this sexual dimorphism. This Special Issue therefore aims to assess the recent cutting-edge advancements that explain the sexual dimorphism in stroke etiology, risk factors, treatments, or outcomes based on clinical or preclinical data. We also welcome research on therapeutic targets that may lead to sex-specific protection in ischemic stroke.

We will accept original research studies, reviews, case reports, perspectives, and opinion articles.
