Optical and Photonic Biosensors

A section of Biosensors (ISSN 2079-6374).

Section Information

The section will cover the wide research area of optical and photonic biosensors, which are mainly intended for health applications, environmental monitoring, and food/water quality control. Some of these technologies are quite mature, while others are extremely new, e.g., all-dielectric metasurface-based biosensors.

Potential topics:

  • Microphotonic chip-based biosensors;
  • Fiber-optic biosensors;
  • Plasmonic biosensors;
  • Spectroscopy for biosensing;
  • Optical trapping for biosensing;
  • Nanoplasmonic biosensor for in vivo and in vitro analysis;
  • 3D printing for optical biosensor fabrication;
  • Evanescent wave fluorescence biosensors;
  • Bioluminescent biosensors;
  • Photoelectrochemical biosensors;
  • Electrochemiluminescence biosensors;
  • Terahertz-biosensing technology;
  • Raman spectroscopy in biosensing applications;
  • Optical bioimaging for clinic and diagnosis applications;
  • Ellipsometric-based novel biosensors.
