2–7 July 2023 12th International Symposium on EIS

Beijing, China

The 12th International Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy Conference (EIS 2023), which will be organized by Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Tsinghua University, will be held from 2 to 7 July 2023, in Beijing. The international conference was approved and is supported by the Ministry of Education of P.R.China. This conference takes place every three years. The first International Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy Conference was held in France in 1989; since then, this conference has been held in Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Japan. This is the first time that EIS 2023 will be held in China and the second in Asia. This conference has evolved into one of the leading events in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, providing a unique opportunity to gather experts from different fields related to this powerful technique.

EIS 2023 will predominantly focus on the fundamentals, technologies and instruments of EIS, and its applications in corrosion, electrochemical energy conversion and storage, electrochemical reaction, analysis, and sensors. During EIS 2023, there will be oral and poster contributions, an electrochemical instruments and technologies exhibition, and a short course showcasing the diverse aspects of the various fields of applications of EIS.

Scientific Scope
As for the previous symposia, EIS 2023 features all aspects of the interdisciplinary areas of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, pertaining to the following themes:

EIS Fundamentals, Technologies and Instruments:

  • Frequency dispersion and constant phase element;
  • Global and local EIS;
  • EIS measurement, and data processing and analysis;
  • Emerging EIS methods and new instruments.

EIS Applications in Corrosion:

  • Electrochemical kinetics and mechanisms of metallic corrosion;
  • Corrosion failures and applications of organic or inorganic coatings, conversion films, plating or deposits, and electronic and ionic conducting polymers;
  • Corrosion inhibitor and mechanisms;
  • Electrochemical protections, corrosion monitoring and inspection techniques.

EIS Applications in Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage:

  • Electrochemical energy conversion and storage materials;
  • Batteries, fuel cells, supper-capacitors and dielectric material or electrolyzers;
  • Solid-state systems.

EIS Applications in Electrochemical Reaction, Analysis, and Sensors:

  • Carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CO2RR);
  • Nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR);
  • Other electrochemical catalyst reactions;
  • Electrochemical analysis, photoelectric chemistry and sensors.

Exhibition, short course and visits

During EIS 2023, an electrochemical instruments and technologies exhibition will be held. At the same time, a short course will be organized for students and others. Additionally, a visit will be organized for delegates, to provide them with the opportunity to exchange their research.

15–19 October 2023 The 27th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (µTAS 2023)

Katowice, Poland

µTAS 2023 continues an international Conference series that is the premier forum for reporting research results in microfluidics, microfabrication, nanotechnology, integration, materials and surfaces, analysis and synthesis, and detection technologies for the life sciences and chemistry. The Conference offers plenary and invited talks, expansive poster sessions, networking forums, and an array of industry exhibitions, as well as numerous contributed oral and poster presentations selected from submitted abstracts. Following Basel in 2019 and a virtual and hybrid format in 2020, 2021, and 2022, we are pleased to welcome you to Poland next. We anticipate over 1000 scientists, trainees, and industry professionals from around the globe will once again share advances regarding integrated microsystems and nanotechnology for chemistry and life sciences in person.

22–24 November 2023 Single-Molecule Sensors and NanoSystems International Conference (S3IC 2023)

Barcelona, Spain

We are pleased to announce that the 3rd edition of the Single-Molecule Sensors and NanoSystems International Conference (S3IC 2023), chaired by Prof. Frank Vollmer and Prof. Felix Ritort, will be held in Barcelona, Spain, from 22 to 24 November 2023. You can learn more about the conference at the following link: https://premc.org/conferences/s3ic-single-molecule-sensors-nanosystems/.

Sensor systems exhibit extraordinary sensitivity for detecting physical, chemical, and biological entities at the micro/nanoscale. The detection and analysis of molecules on miniature devices that have many possible applications in health, environment, analysis, and security are particularly exciting. A new class of label-free micro and nanosensors is starting to emerge allowing us to observe dynamic processes at the single-molecule level directly, with unprecedented spatial and temporal resolution and without significantly affecting the natural and functional movements of the molecules. Micro- and nanosensors by virtue of their small interaction length probe molecules over a dynamic range often inaccessible by other techniques. Their small size enables an exceedingly high sensitivity, and the application of quantum optical measurement techniques can allow us to approach or surpass classical limits of detection. Advances in optical and electrical measurement methodology, laser interferometry, quantum optics, micro/nanofluidics, control of molecules and reactions at the nanoscale, DNA origami/synthetic molecular machines, and in vivo and wearable sensing materials all contribute to the rapid progress of the field of single-molecule sensors and nanosystems. It is this convergence of previously often disparate fields that is accelerating the advancements in micro and nano-sensing.

This conference will bring together researchers in the rapidly advancing field of single-molecule sensors and nanosystems. The conference focuses on the most recent advances in micro and nano-sensing techniques that have either demonstrated single-molecule detection or that claim single-molecule detection capabilities on sensor chips in the longer term.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Single-molecule spectroscopy, imaging, and forces;
  • Micro/nanofluidics/chemical control at the nanoscale;
  • Molecular machines, synthetic biology, and DNA origami;
  • Single-molecule sensors and sequencers;
  • Molecular electronics;
  • From quantum sensing to quantum biology;
  • Nanothermodynamics in experiments and theory;
  • Computational approaches.
