Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant potential for high impact in the field. A Feature Paper should be a substantial original Article that involves several techniques or approaches, provides an outlook for future research directions and describes possible research applications.
Feature papers are submitted upon individual invitation or recommendation by the scientific editors and must receive positive feedback from the reviewers.
Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the scientific editors of MDPI journals from around the world. Editors select a small number of articles recently published in the journal that they believe will be particularly interesting to readers, or important in the respective research area. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of the most exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal.

As Editor-in-Chief of Beverages, I am pleased to announce the winner of the 2023 Travel Award. The award has been granted to Christian Schubert, Research Associate, Versuchs- und Lehranstalt für Brauerei in Berlin (VLB) e.V.
As the awardee, he will receive an honorarium of CHF 800 and a certificate.
With so many high-quality applicants, the evaluation process and final decision were challenging. We would like to thank all the applicants for submitting their diverse and fascinating range of research topics. On behalf of the assessment committee, I congratulate the winner on his accomplishments.

Beverages and it’s editorial board are pleased that Ms. Claudia Gonzalez Viejo was selected as the winner of our travel and publication award this year. She was our choice among the many outstanding nominations that we received from around the world. Beverages, through it’s publisher MDPI, is proud to support outstanding young scientists as they move forward in their careers. That support comes both through awards such as this that allow the dissemination of research at scientific conferences and through publication as well as through the open access scientific publication process, which makes high-quality scientific work publicly available.
Ms. Claudia Gonzalez Viejo, who is currently studying at the University of Melbourne, Australia. Her principal research interests lie in the field of food and beverages from farm to the final product. Her currently investigating “the effect of bubble formation within carbonated drinks on the brewage foamability, bubble dynamics and sensory perception by consumers” for her PhD. She will attend the “European Brewery Convention Congress” 2–6 June 2019, in Antwerpen, Belgium, to present her work “Sonication of Beer Increases Perceived Quality Based on Bubble Size and Foamability”
