Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Air pollution is a very serious problem for the global population; millions of people die every year because of inflammatory diseases affecting the respiratory system and caused by harmful substances in the air.

Many countries exhibit air pollutant concentration levels higher than the threshold values suggested by legislation, leading to a negative impact on human health and food production. In light of this, AI can help analyse and predict air pollution; in addition, it plays a key role in expanding the global air pollution monitoring network.

Finally, AI-inspired innovations allow us to fight air pollution so as to ensure livability and a sustainable future for the environment as well as the well-being of individuals and the community.

Aside from air pollution, another issue that deserves the community's attention and action is urban flooding.

This environmental topic has become more prominent in recent years since it has become a source of significant economic and human loss.

Hydrological models represent an effective tool for monitoring, forecasting, and controlling flood risk in urban areas.

They are widely used for urban water and disaster management because they allow for the simulation of the motion processes of floods and predict flood-caused consequences in urban environments. Finally, they are useful for planning sustainable measures for reducing the flood risk in urban areas.

Given the above, this Special Issue aims to collect scientific research achievements and future academic development trends related, but not limited, to the topics listed below:
