Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Modern society has advanced due in large part to the development of communication networks. Each generation of communication networks, from the earliest days of first generation to the 5G era, has brought about profound developments. Now, we are working for the upcoming generations and expecting 6G to become a reality around 2030. This Special Issue intends to examine the rising trends, difficulties, and opportunities in the field of Next Generation Communication Systems (NGCS) as we stand on the verge of the subsequent stage of technological progress.

The "Next Generation Communication Systems" Special Issue aims to compile the most recent findings and perspectives from academic, industrial, and research institutions across the globe.

The following subjects are covered by this special edition:

  • 5G Network Architecture and Design;
  • 6G Communication Systems;
  • Open/Virtual Radio Access Networks;
  • Spectrum Management;
  • Dynamic Spectrum Sharing ;
  • Industrial Internet of Things;
  • Society 5.0 and NGCS;
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Communication;
  • Perspectives of Green Communication;
  • Integrated Sensing and Communication;
  • Sustainable Development Goals and NGCS ;
  • Safety and Security in NGCS;
  • Ultra Massive MIMO and Cell Free Communication;
  • Advanced Channel Coding Techniques;
  • mm Wave and THz Communication;
  • Cloud and Fog Computing in NGCS.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs).
