Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Supporting ubiquitous information exchange and content sharing among smart devices with no human intervention is key for various applications, such as smart cities, smart grids, smart health, intelligent transportation systems, and so on. The digitization that has been achieved in recent decades has radically changed the way we live, communicate, and work. Modern societies are currently experiencing an increasing adoption of interconnected wireless devices, resulting in a revolutionary Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm and revealing various security and privacy issues. This growing scenario offers incredible chances in multiple parts of our society, particularly if we incorporate the IoT with blockchain, which would permit us to openly authenticate any data exchanges without relying on intermediary parties or centralized institutions. In the last few years, blockchain has come to be recognized as a distributed ledger system able to store data safely over a variety of networks and permit peer-to-peer transactions by generating a dependable source of information that eliminates the need for "intermediaries of trust". The protection of personal data and privacy is a timeless challenge which has intensified in the modern era. In the past few years, there has been a surge in the number of complex cybercrimes, which take the form of data thefts, breaches, and illicit trading of information, all of which infringe upon the rights of individuals and corporations alike, destabilizing market competition and eroding the public's trust in organizations. This Special Issue seeks research and case studies to provide innovative cutting-edge research methodologies and applications in the research field of cyber security, IoT, and blockchain.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
