Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

With the fast advancement of computer programing and artificial intelligence utilities, multimedia information processing, such as audios, images, videos, and data, has become increasingly common in our daily lives. Multimedia data must be processed before they can be used in multimedia devices to overcome various technical issues. For example, a raw image/video should be pre-processed and compressed before transmission for storage capacity limitations. Since the compressed image/video has a lower visual quality, the quality improvement process should be conducted to enhance the visual quality of the received multimedia data. Therefore, multimedia processing techniques are crucial for different multimedia data applications.

Furthermore, since social media plays an important role and internet technologies have been rapidly developed, multimedia data have become extensively used in diverse applications, such as video surveillance, webcasting, data streaming, etc. So, sensitive multimedia data must be safeguarded during transmission for multimedia data security.

This Special Issue in Applied Sciences focuses on the theoretical and practical design concerns of Advances in Multimedia Information Processing. Our goal is to bring together scholars, industry practitioners, and individuals working on connected topics to exchange new ideas, the latest results, and cutting-edge achievements. This will provide readers with extensive knowledge of the most current developments in Multimedia Information Processing.

The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Artificial intelligence for multimedia processing.
  • Multimedia data quality assessment.
  • Threat detection algorithms for multimedia broadcasting system.
  • Multimedia data privacy protection.
  • Multimedia data transmission.
  • Multimedia data hiding algorithms.
  • Multimedia data compression.
  • Multimedia data copyright protection.
  • Multimedia authentication and encryption.
  • Multimedia data watermarking.
  • Multimedia quality enhancement.
  • Image/video analysis and processing.
  • Image/video labeling and retrieval.
  • Image detection, recognition, segmentation, and classification.
  • Moving object detection, recognition, and tracking.
  • Image/video interpretation and understanding.
  • Image/video super-resolution algorithms.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
