Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In recent past, Big Data has evolved at a very fast pace which has led to a speedy growth in the field of technology and business. This has largely affected and attracted the academia, industry, government, and other organizations. In addition, the IoT devices have played an important role in the collection of huge amounts of data and then processing them to come to specific conclusions. The data that is collected through these IoT devices is raw, and this must be converted and analysed to have a clear picture of the information received from these devices. Further, the spatial analysis of the obtained and converted data needs to be studied through examination, assessment, evaluation, and modelling of their features. This brings forth various challenges in the spatial analysis of big data for processing. Thus, this Special Issue is focussed towards providing novel/new works along with proper experimentation in the field of Big Data and Internet of Things (IoT).

Areas relevant to Big Data and IoT include, but are not limited to, big data; Internet of Things; data collection, data analysis and data presentation; computation and data-intensive applications, novel algorithms; spatial analysis of big data; big data processing from various sources.

This Special Issue will publish high-quality, original research papers, in the overlapping fields of:

  • Computational Data Science;
  • Big Data Analytics;
  • Internet of Things;
  • Industrial Internet of Things;
  • Spatial/Geospatial data analytics;
  • Data security mechanisms/protocols/algorithms;
  • Artificial intelligence in data analytics;
  • Machine learning and deep learning in data analytics.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
