Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Nowadays, our understanding of the importance of nutrition has increased considerably, and the role of antioxidants has become fundamental in both human and animal health, since they are pivotal for developing functional diets. Antioxidants can be found in microorganisms, animals and plants or chemically synthesized in laboratories. One of the most cost-effective opportunities for nutrition is represented using by-products from food and agriculture sectors that can be exploited to supplement functional compounds in diets. Dietary antioxidants are a wide group of molecules with various bioactive effects, and their consumption can act synergistically when combining antioxidant molecules from different sources. Exogenous antioxidants that originate from the diet are capable of decreasing the risk of pathology development and the aging process and, recently, antioxidant therapy has seen renewed interest in cancer research. The dietary supplementation of antioxidants is important for developing functional diets to cope with the oxidative stress, prevent pathologies and decrease therapeutic treatments in both human and animals.
This Special Issue focuses on innovative antioxidants for animal nutrition. We are seeking papers related to the following topic.
Prof. Dr. Luciana Rossi
Dr. Matteo Dell'Anno
