Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a complex disease characterized by microvasculopathy, extensive fibrosis and disease-related autoantibodies. The disease frequently causes organ damage with poor outcome. Therefore early recognition of the disease and /or prediction of its course is of paramount importance in order to improve optimal management and patient survival. Autoantibodies, a hallmark of B cell autoimmunity, are of particular interest in SSc, a disease with no overt inflammatory infiltrates. Many autoantibodies are detected in SSc, few are included in the classification criteria for the disease, some are associated with clinical manifestations, and some are of pathogenic significance. Autoantibodies in SSc may also indicate the co-existence of other autoimmune rheumatic diseases. Why SSc is characterized by a diverse spectrum of autoantibody responses remains unclear, though pathogens and exogenous triggers have been considered likely triggers. Thus, the pathogenic, diagnostic and clinical significance of autoantibodies in SSc is a focus of intense research.
This Special Issue of Antibodies focuses on autoantibodies in SSc and authors are invited to submit original papers or reviews on the following topics of autoantibodies in SSc: origin, pathogenic role, diagnostic significance, clinical associations, prognosis, and cancer associations.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
