The effect of antibiotics on various organisms, as well as in the whole ecosystem, may occur at relatively low concentrations. Therefore, its concentration must be precisely quantified in several matrices, including environmental samples, but also in food and biological fluids. The use of liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry has increased the reliability, accessibility, and accuracy with which antibiotics can be detected and quantified. The effect of different variables during the pre-analytical treatment, such as extraction, concentration, and purification, is also of key relevance. The use of structurally similar, isotopically labeled (deuterated) standards, as well as any other strategies to improve the recovery of the target antibiotics are also relevant. In summary, manuscripts concerning other related areas of global interest on antibiotic analysis and residues are also welcome.

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Antibiotics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
