Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Cattle play an important role in the development of a circular bio-based economy wherein food, feed, and energy production are interlinked. The strength of bovine-based production is in their ability to convert grass and other forage crops to nutrient-dense food products. Grasslands are an important part of crop rotation; grazing enhances biodiversity. Sustainable cattle production is achieved through productivity: an increased production level reduces the impact to the climate. Increased cattle production is reached by focusing on managing good animal health, targeted feeding, and using the best breeding practices. Efficient roughage production is a key element of sustainability in most cattle production systems. Manure management is key to controlling nutrient losses to the environment.

This Special Issue will gather a broad view of management practices and new technologies to enhance the knowledge of the best cattle production practices and how to ensure the continuity of sustainable cattle production.
