Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Animals 2023 Young Investigator Award is Dr. Lauren Powell. Dr. Lauren Powell is a Postdoctoral Researcher of the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Powell’s research interests are in the behavior and welfare of companion animals, One Health and One Welfare with a focus on the impacts of human–animal relationships for both species, animal shelters and the role of community engagement in pet ownership, and quality of life in cats and dogs. Dr. Powell received her PhD in 2020 and has an outstanding publication record, comprising 31 publications in peer-reviewed international journals. Dr. Powell’s Scopus Scientific Citations number 538 and her Hirsch index is 10. She is clearly a rising star in the field of animals. This is an outstanding achievement in today’s competitive environment. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Powell on her outstanding achievements.

As the awardee, Dr. Lauren Powell will receive an honorarium of CHF 1000, an offer to publish a paper free of charge before 2024 in Animals after peer-review, and an electronic certificate.
