Livestock Farming Technology

A section of AgriEngineering (ISSN 2624-7402).

Section Information

Recently, all industries have been encouraged to actively participate and contribute to global issues such as responding to climate change, reducing energy load and carbon emissions, and responding to diseases, as well as increasing food security. In addition, in particular, the livestock industry is actively making efforts to resolve livestock issues such as welfare livestock farming, livestock disease prevention, and environmental load reduction, such as livestock odor.

In order to solve these livestock issues, advanced technology applications and multidisciplinary convergence approaches are being tried in various ways, through which not only real-time monitoring but also predictable, more precise control is possible, and multi-disciplinary convergence for implementing advanced technologies is being promoted.

Advanced livestock technology encompasses the concept of achieving intelligent systemization for the entire cycle of livestock production, such as analyzing the animal's growth and rearing environment using advanced technologies and automated facilities, and performing maintenance and management at an appropriate level. In simple terms, it means that it is operated with the goal of reducing labor, and improving productivity and quality by inspecting the rearing environment of livestock anytime and anywhere based on accurate data, such as growth information, environmental information, and management information, and maintaining and managing it at an appropriate level. Along with the implementation of welfare livestock farming, other representative livestock issues such as disease control, a reduction of environmental load such as livestock odor, and reducing energy loads and carbon emissions still need to be resolved.

This section focuses on original research and reviews on the development of advanced technologies to improve productivity in the livestock industry. In this framework, specialized or interdisciplinary manuscripts with a focus on environmental control in livestock farms, livestock odor reduction, livestock disease measures, energy load reduction, carbon emission reduction, and renewable energy implementation are welcome.
