Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Currently, there is a growing interest in Olive culture, Olive Oil, and environmental applications worldwide due to its positive effects on human health and the hedonistic and health benefits connected to olive oil consumption. In recent times, due to Current global challenges, such as abrupt climate changes, the depletion of natural resources, incurable diseases, labour shortages in agriculture, and other factors, olive trees have recently faced both environmental and social challenges. These challenges will only become worse in the future. For this purpose, it is necessary to improve deep scientific knowledge and technologies in olive oil extraction and quality and to minimize and valorize the generated waste.

This Special Issue on International Conference on Olive Cultivation Future and Industry (ICOCFI) 2023  (https://summit.ju.edu.sa/en/icocfi/home) has significantly contributed to the development in the field of Agriculture, Biotechnology, Olive culture, Olive Oil, and environmental applications. Biotechnology and Molecular Biology of the Olive Tree and other Agricultural Processes have remarkable properties and provide opportunities for future advanced applications. The investigation of Biotechnology and Molecular Biology and sustainable Olive culture and Olive Oil has emerged as a significant research area due to their exceptionally broad range of activities, allowing reactions to be achieved more effectively and efficiently. This Special Issue focuses on all aspects of Science, agriculture, biotechnology, and techniques for the Development of a Sustainable Olive culture and Olive Oil and their applications and covers all the related fields of study. Special attention will be paid to the following topics:

  • Appropriate Agricultural Practices for Olive Tree Cultivation;
  • Biotechnology and Molecular Biology of the Olive Tree and other Agricultural Processes;
  • Processing, Recycling and Green Chemistry of Olive Tree Waste and Related Industries;
  • The Nutritional and Economic Value of Olive Oil and its Products.

This Special Issue enables academic scientists, researchers, and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Science and Techniques for the Development of a Sustainable Olive culture and Olive Oil. We invite authors to submit their latest research in the form of original full articles, communications, or reviews on this topic.

You may choose our Joint Special Issue in Molecules.
